*** Edit: I no longer think I have Dad’s bio father figured out. I do believe it is a Jones but don’t know which one, I have a theory but that is all it is at this point. My paternal DNA is mostly just 40,800 names I do not know or do I know where to start. I have matched a few with his mother that are for sure her relatives. This may take me years!
Well family, my DNA results are in! I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the convoluted matches, but I actually think I may have figured out who Dad’s biological father was.
All I’ll say for now is that I’m pretty sure Laura lied on the birth certificate about John Grishem being his father, which is honestly what I suspected all along. I also think I may know why she lied and possibly why her family seemed to disown her.
It’s going to take me quite some time to sort through all these matches and come to an educated conclusion — or maybe I should say an uneducated guess. At this point, I think I may need to hire a professional genealogist.
So, I may not be posting much for awhile because I’m buried in this weird DNA mess. If anyone wants to know the conclusions I’ve come to so far, feel free to text or call me. I don’t want to put my thoughts online after only looking into this for a couple of days.
I did my test through Ancestry, and I’m thinking about trying 23 and Me next time they have a sale. I’m not sure if that will help or just give me even more confusion.
